Nilda Bernaldez– CDC Director   Nilda Bernaldez grew up in a family of thirteen children in the Philippines where she was educated in the provinces of Bohol and Cebu through a Bachelor Of Arts Degree in English in 1978 and a Master’s Degree in Management specializing in Education in 1986. She began her career as a Roman Catholic Nun, teaching and administering for 13 years in schools and universities of her homeland. She elected a tertiary status with the church to practice in the public sector as a missionary of service to her family and to the children of the world, and served as Executive Director of the Shoemart Foundation College Scholarship Program for 9 years. Nilda moved to the US in 2002 and has served as the Burton Memorial CDC Director since December, 2004. Ms. Bernaldez has also served as President of the Florida Keys Association of Early Childhood Educators since 2009.
